Richard Jones has more than twenty years of experience in development finance. He began his career at the UK Treasury and the European Commission before joining the EBRD in 2003. He has held a number of positions at the Bank, including Director of Donor Co-financing (2009-2013), Head of Office in Dushanbe, Tajikistan (2014-2016), Director of the President’s Office (2017), and EBRD representative in Beijing in a secondment at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (2018-2019). During the pandemic he led the EBRD’s crisis response “Solidarity Package”, as well as the Bank’s institutional commitment to the goals of the Paris Agreement. He was appointed in March 2022 to his current role as Director, SME Finance and Development, Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.
